Summary

On Day 1, Julie introduced eight of the sixteen HouseGuests who are moving in first. Amongst the eight were two former pro athletes, a recent nursing grad, a make-up artist, a school groundskeeper, a model, a DJ, and the older brother of a pop star. They immediately suspected a twist once only half of them were standing on Day 1. Once entering the house Paola and Devin then saw an opportunity to make an eight person alliance against the others who will be entering on Day 2, which later became "The Crazy 8's". Afterwards, Paola started to flirt with Cody to get him as an ally. Devin made a side alliance with Donny calling themselves the "Double D's". The four girls later formed an "El Cuatro" alliance after Amber and Paola were adamant about a female winning this season. Later on, the eight HouseGuests competed in the first HoH competition: Go Fly a Kite. The goal was to hold your balance on the rotating log while trying to keep your kite from crushing the sand castle. Frankie won and became the first HoH. Afterwards, Julie told the eight that when the other eight arrive, another HoH would reign and that neither HoH would be safe just yet. Following this announcement, Julie informed the public that they would be select three people to form an alliance called "Team America". Those three will be chosen by poll and will be given tasks by the American public. Upon successful completion, each HouseGuest would receive $5,000.

Later on Day 1, Julie introduced the remaining eight HouseGuests who had yet to move in. This included an event coordinator, a hunting guide, a photographer, a barista, a police officer, a minister, a pedicab driver, and a recent college graduate. Once everyone moved inside the house, the two groups begin to naturally coalesce, with Frankie even wanting Victoria on his side as an ally. Later on, Julie called everyone into the backyard for the second group's HoH competition: Over the Coal. The goal of this competition is that the HouseGuests must hold on to rotating stiff to be the last one standing and the second HoH. The girls quickly fell off one by one, with Zach and Derrick following suit afterwards. Caleb ultimately became the last man standing, becoming the second HoH. Soon after, Julie informed the HouseGuests about how the dual-HoH twist would work this summer; both Frankie and Caleb will make their own separate nominations, which means that a total of four nominees will be up on the block. Following the nominations, those four will compete as duos in the Battle of the Block competition, where they are given the opportunity to remove themselves from the block. The duo that wins the competition will be removed from the block and immune from being named the replacement nominee if the veto is used that week, whereas the HoH who nominated them will be dethroned and eligible to be the replacement nominee.

After the HoH rooms were revealed, Caleb and Frankie quickly went to strategizing. They decided to form an all-guy alliance with Devin, Derrick, Cody, and Zach called the "Bomb Squad". Elsewhere, Christine and Nicole hit it off and formed an alliance of their own. After wanting to balance out the all-male alliance and have the numbers on his side, Devin told Amber and Christine about the Bomb Squad and made them full members of the alliance. Devin did not do this with the alliance's supervision, making his allies skeptical of his gameplay. They were also concerned with Devin's paranoia, after Devin suggested that Donny was an intimidating force to be reckoned with. When it came down to nominations, Frankie thought it would be best to nominate the people who fell off first during the HoH competitions. In addition, both Caleb and Frankie agreed to each nominate two people from the group they did not enter with to avoid bringing any attention to themselves. During the nomination ceremony, Caleb won the draw and made his nominations first; he selected Donny and Paola after both fell first during their HoH competition. Despite forming a solid bond with Victoria, Frankie nominated her along with Brittany for being the first two who fell off during their HoH competition.

After the nomination ceremony, the four nominees participated in the first ever "Battle of the Block" competition, the Big Brother Bash. The objective was for one person to swing and get water in the glass cup so they could throw it into another glass cup held by the other person; that person would swing backward to dump it into a glass vase full of berries. The first duo to do this will win immunity, come off the block, and dethrone the HoH who nominated them. Following Brittany and Victoria's win, Caleb became the first official HoH of the summer while Donny and Paola were both put on the chopping block. On Day 7, the first veto competition of the season, "Miami Lice," took place. Cody, Victoria, and Zach were picked to play. With only Donny and Zach spelling valid words, Donny won the Power of Veto. He removed himself from the block and Caleb named Joey as the replacement nominee. On Day 13, Joey became the first HouseGuest to be evicted from the house by a unanimous vote of 13-0.

Later that night, the HOH competition called "BB Rager" was played, where the object was to walk across a balance beam and successfully carry six kegs to the other side. Amber was crowned the first HOH with seven girls competing, and Cody was originally crowned the second HOH with seven guys competing. However, after reviewing the tape, it was realized that Cody was disqualified and Devin was subsequently crowned the second HOH. After the live eviction, it was revealed on Big Brother After Dark that nominations would be held the same day.

On the same night Devin and Amber received their HoH room and read their letters. Seeing his daughter Devin felt bad his he started to play this game and went to apologize to Donny. Then afterwards held an house meeting telling everyone how he accused Donny and forced Caleb to nominate him. When it was over that made Brittany think that what Caleb said was a lie that the reason she and the other previous nominees were nominated as of they fell off first. When Devin went to chat with the Bomb Squad, Frankie and Caleb told him that what he said was throwing Caleb under the bus. They also informed him on what Brittany said making her his prime target. At the nomination ceremony Devin went first and nominated Paola and Brittany then Amber nominated Hayden and Nicole. Before the Battle of the Block, Devin asked for Paola to throw it promising she will be safe.

On Day 14, Hayden and Nicole competed against Paola and Brittany in the We Did What?! Battle of the Block competition. In the competition, the nominees were asked a question. They were then shown a slideshow and had to search for the answer in the slides. If a houseguest buzzed in with the correct answer, they scored a point for their team. After each round, the team who scored the point would give a distraction to the other team, such as beer goggles and a leaky beer helmet. An incorrect answer resulted in the other team gaining a point, and their team receiving the distraction. The first team to four points would win the Battle, take themselves off the block, be safe for the week, and dethrone the HOH who nominated them. Hayden and Nicole won the Battle of the Block, resulting in Amber being dethroned, Devin being the HOH for the week, and Brittany and Paola remaining on block.

Later in the week, Caleb revealed to Devin that the members of the Bomb Squad were planning on keeping Brittany over Paola, which caused Devin to have yet another house meeting where Zach admitted to wanting Devin out of the house. At the veto competition, Zach, Derrick and Amber were chosen to compete with Devin becoming the victor. Brittany pleaded to Devin to use the veto on her, noting their similarities for being single parents. At the veto meeting, Devin removed Brittany and nominated Zach in her place. On Day 21, Paola was evicted from the house by a 10-2 vote.

Later that night, HouseGuests played the HOH competition, Underwater Polo, in which the goal was to knock a ball into the highest number goal, numbered 1 to 29, on the end of the field. Nicole and Derrick became the new HOHs with Nicole scoring a perfect 29 and Derrick scoring a near-perfect 28. Nicole nominated Amber and Donny for eviction and Derrick selected Caleb and Jocasta. Amber and Donny then took on Caleb and Jocasta in the Abraca-BOB-ra Battle of the Block competition. For the competition, one houseguest would run across the yard to a bin containing puzzle pieces. When someone ran across the yard, their partner was raised up in the air next to their puzzle board. The first duo to complete their puzzle and hit the button would win the Battle of the Block, be immune from this week's eviction, make their HOH wear a frog costume for the rest of the week, and dethrone them in the process. Donny and Amber prevailed, saved themselves for the week, made Nicole wear the frog costume, and left Caleb and Jocasta on the block with Derrick as the sole HOH for the week. At the "Tumbling Dice" POV competition, Donny, Devin and Christine were chosen to compete. Jocasta, feeling ill from the Battle of the Block competition, sat out of the POV. Donny was declared the winner and chose to use the veto on Jocasta. Devin was named as the replacement nominee. On Day 28, Devin was evicted by a unanimous 11-0 vote.

Later on Day 28, the Houseguests were paired up, (Amber and Zach, Victoria and Christine, Caleb and Nicole, Cody and Frankie, Donny and Hayden, and Brittany and Jocasta), for the Deviled Eggs HOH competition. The goal of the competition was for the duos to maneuver an egg through chicken wire while constantly passing it back and forth between partners. The first pair to collect 12 eggs was the winner. After a close race, Cody and Frankie edged out Brittany and Jocasta to win Head of Household. On Day 29, Frankie nominated Amber and Jocasta, and Cody nominated Brittany and Victoria for eviction. The four women then played in the Knight Moves Battle of the Block competition. In the competition, all four women started in a different corner of a giant chess board. They then alternated moving like a knight in chess. When a space was landed on, the space was then out of play and could not be landed on again. When someone was unable to make a move, they were eliminated from the game. The last person standing would win the Battle of the Block for her and her partner, take themselves off the block, be safe for the week, and dethrone the HOH who nominated them. After Jocasta was eliminated, Amber beat out both Brittany and Victoria and won the Battle of the Block for her and Jocasta, took themselves off the block, guaranteed themselves safety for the week, dethroned Frankie, and left Brittany and Victoria on the block with Cody as the sole HOH for the week. On Day 30, Cody, Brittany, and Victoria, along with Caleb, Nicole, and Zach, competed in the B.B. Cup POV competition. Each round, every player controlled a robotic leg in order to kick a soccer ball into a sectioned, numbered soccer net. After everyone has kicked, the person with the lowest score was eliminated and claimed a prize. People eliminated in later rounds could either decide to keep their prize or trade for an already revealed prize. In the end, Cody got penalty kicks to the butt, Brittany had to score 2400 soccer goals in 24 hours, Caleb snagged $5000, Zach claimed a Germany vacation, Nicole was forced to wear the Germitard for a week, and Victoria walked away with the Power of Veto. After Caleb took the $5000 over the Veto, Cody considered putting him up as a replacement nominee. However, on Day 33, Victoria used the Veto on herself and took herself off the block, and Cody went against his consideration and named Donny as the replacement nominee. On Day 35, Brittany was evicted by yet another unanimous vote of 10-0.

That same night, HouseGuests participated in the HOH competition called Country Hits, where each person faced off one another in pairs; the winner of each face-off picked the next pair to compete and the loser was eliminated. The last two HouseGuests standing would both become the HOH. The object was to determine whether the subject of each song was either a previous Head of Household, Battle of the Block, or Power of Veto competition. Frankie became the first HOH after Derrick deliberately threw the competition out of respect for Frankie's grandfather passing away. After Zach and Christine (the last two HouseGuests standing) faced off against one another, Zach became the second HOH. On Day 36, Zach nominated Nicole and Christine for eviction, and Frankie nominated Jocasta and Victoria for eviction. Following the Nomination Ceremony, everyone went to the backyard for the Here Comes the Bride Battle of the Block competition, where Jocasta and Victoria and Nicole and Christine would fight for safety. In the end, Nicole and Christine won the competition and won safety for the week, therefore dethroning Zach as Head of Household, leaving Frankie as HOH and leaving Jocasta and Victoria on the block. In the Power of Veto competition, the Houseguests have to rock their hips to make the horse gallop, once the horse gallops back in forth sixty times they dismount the horse and have 30 seconds to stat to stack gold bars on top of a giant horseshoe. They have to make sure they watch the time cause if 30 seconds runs out they are eliminated, but they can reenter by agreeing to take slop. The first to complete stacking their pile of gold wins the Power of Veto. Jocasta was the only who ran out of time but she took the slop and still ran out of time. It was down between Christine and Hayden but Christine miss a few and Hayden was able to pull ahead and win the Power of Veto. With the plan to backdoor Amber was in motion Hayden used the veto on Victoria and Frankie put Amber up in her place. On Day 42, Amber was evicted by another unanimous vote of 9-0. Julie has revealed next week it will be a Double Eviction.

After Amber's eviction the Houseguests competed in the Getting Loopy competition. In this competition the Houseguests saw clips of events that occur in the house. Julie would ask questions based on those clips and they would answer with either true or false. If they answer the question incorrectly, they are eliminated. Donny and Nicole became the new Heads of Household after a tie-breaker with Caleb, Derrick and Zach. Nicole planned on backdooring Frankie while Team America decided to carry out missions without Donny. When talking to Donny Caleb said he didn't want to be up next to Victoria which gave Donny an open way to targeting Caleb. While Zach tried to use reverse psychology on Nicole, Nicole nominated him alongside Jocasta. Donny nominated Caleb and Victoria. The nominated Houseguests competed in the Domino Effect Battle of the Block competition. The objective was to build a trail of dominos leading to a red buzzer when knocked over three punishments of choice also have to be knocked down in order to win. If the domino does this and pushes the red buzzer the winning do will be safe and dethrone the HoH who nominated them. It was neck and neck but when Zach and Jocasta made a wrong move Caleb and Victoria pulled ahead and won dethroning Donny from his HoH reign. Also of winning the competition they selected to be on slop for the next two week, be Adam and eve and be chained together for 48 hours, and shave their hair (Caleb had to shave his). Christne feeling like the third wheel between Nicole and Hayden decided to tell Nicole a few fibs about Hayden which totally backfired making Nicole not trust her anymore. When picking players for the veto Caleb,Victoria, and Christine were picked. Each of the six plays individually in “BB Comics,” a test where they much use a zip line to slide past a comic studio wall to see 16 new superhero comics based on the HouseGuests. The players must then recreate the wall. The player who correctly arranges the comics in the shortest amount of time wins the Veto. Everyone struggles with the multiple comics and the subtle differences between seemingly identical covers, and if your time goes over 35:00 your round will end. Christine won the veto. Wanting to insure that Zach goes home and not rock the boat she decided not to use the veto leaving Zach and Jocasta on the block. And when Caleb got to the Detonators and told them about the numbers they decided to keep Zach and target Nicole and Hayden. On day 49 Jocasta was evicted by a vote of 6-2. She became the first member of the Jury.

Following Jocasta's eviction, the houseguest competed in the Mathcathlon HoH competition where Julie will ask math questions that are based on events that took place in the house. The answer would either be more, less, or exactly if you get it right you remain in the game and if you get it wrong your are eliminated. On round 3 Caleb and Christine were the last remaining two. After the next round, Caleb was crowned the second HoH of the week. He quickly decided to nominate Hayden and Donny for eviction. Victoria, Zach and Christine were picked to play in the upcoming live veto competition. The Houseguests competed in the Best of Duck Power of Veto competition. On Julie's go the Houseguests will race down their lane to the ball pit in order to search for a rubber ducky where they bring one back at a time. The total ducks required is only 3 and the PoV symbol necklace. Donny won the power veto. He decided to take himself off the block and Caleb renominated Nicole in his place. Americas first official showmance of the season was about to come to an end. With a surprising blind side Hayden was evicted by a 5-2 vote. Hayden became the second member of the jury.

Following Hayden's eviction, Nicole and Frankie began to squabble with each other over both Jocasta's and Hayden's eviction. When it became clear to Frankie that he was losing support in the house he decided to tell his big secret about his famous sister, Ariana Grande. Nicole and Christine won the BB Tourn-eye-ment HOH competition. At the Nomination Ceremony, Nicole nominated Caleb and Frankie, with Frankie being her target. Caleb asked to be nominated so he could throw the Battle of the Block. Christine nominated Zach and Donny for eviction. At the Battle of the Block competition Moving the Chain Frankie and Caleb had a mild argument. Caleb, claiming he would not help Frankie, sat down along the sidelines. In this competition the duo's have to work together to maneuver a ball sitting on a ledge to roll into designated holes by moving chains. The first to do this, in order, and get to 10 not only dethrones the HoH who nominated them but also will go on a tailgating trip, the "Dallas Cowboys Experience", with the official HoH of the week. Zach and Donnie were doing well but Frankie, playing by himself, managed to win, Frankie and Caleb were the winners of the Battle of the Block and dethroned Nicole, making Christine the official HoH and Zach the official target of the week.

The veto competition featured a waterfall and a giant penguin. In a musical-chairs type set-up, participants had to retrieve drink cards named after the houseguest that the penguin called out. A determined Zach won and took himself off the block. Rather than face the anger of the Detonators, Christine put up Nicole as a replacement nominee. On day 56, Nicole was evicted from the Big Brother house by a 6-0 vote and became the third jury member.

Later that same evening, Derrick and Frankie won the next Head of Household competition. Due to the Battle Of The Black and the fact that the Bomb Squad members had decided to leave Victoria safe, they needed two volunteers to go on the block. With no-one willing to volunteer, they resorted to drawing Skittles out of a hat to determine the nominations. Christine was drawn to go on the block with Donny as Derrick's nominations, with Caleb and Cody going up as nominees by Frankie.

On Day 57, in the Battle of the Block competition, the players entered the Big Black Box and searched for five bones that were then placed in a scoreboard on the wall. Christine's plan to throw the competition, similar to Caleb's in a failed attempt to backdoor Frankie the previous week, failed when Donny located all five bones on his own, winning the competition and ensuring safety for the week for himself and Christine, dethroning Derrick, making Frankie the official HoH for the week and leaving Caleb and Cody on the block. Zingbot 3000 made a return and brought Kathy Griffin with him. That same day, Frankie won the POV. Frankie used the Veto on Caleb in an attempt to mend fences with him after Amber's eviction. The Detonators' plan to backdoor Zach and bring "Team Zankie" to an end was put into motion after Frankie nominated Zach as Caleb's replacement. On Day 63, Zach was evicted by a unanimous 5-0 vote, becoming the fourth member of the Jury. Julie revealed to the HouseGuests that as of Week 9, there would no longer be a dual HoH and, accordingly, no Battle of the Block.

Following Zach's eviction, Nicole, Hayden, Jocasta and Zach, who was evicted moments earlier, returned to the house and competed in BB Boxing, a competition where one of them would win the right to come back into the game. By a single disk, Nicole won and was given a second chance to win $500,000. The remaining eight HouseGuests competed in the Punching for Days HoH competition, where they had to identify the dates of various BB occurrences. After six rounds of competition, Cody was declared the first sole HoH of the season. On Day 64, Donny and Nicole were nominated for eviction. That same day, HouseGuests competed in the BBB Scorpion Power of Veto competition. HouseGuests were asked to guess how many of a certain item there were in a set and were rewarded with a security clearance ticket if they stayed rather than fold. The first HouseGuest to obtain three movie tickets was the winner, which was Cody. A plan was discussed to backdoor Frankie, but Derrick convinced Cody that it would be a poor game move to do so, so Cody chose to take Derrick's advice and decided not to use the POV.  On Day 70, Donny was evicted in a unanimous 5-0 vote, becoming the fourth member of the Jury after Nicole returned to the game.

Following Donny's eviction, Caleb won his third HoH competition of the season in an ice-themed endurance competition, while Derrick chose to go for a $5,000 cash option. Caleb decided to be in agreement with the house and focus on getting Nicole evicted. Therefore, he nominated Nicole and Christine for eviction. Christine won the POV in a memory competition called BB Blast, Inc. She removed herself from the block and Caleb selected Victoria as her replacement. In a 4-0 vote, Nicole was evicted for the second time and became the fifth jury member. Almost immediately, a Head of Household true-or-false competition was held which Derrick won with the only correct answer to the first question. He placed Christine and Victoria on the block, Frankie won the POV triple-maze competition, did not use the veto, and Christine was evicted in a 3–0 vote, becoming the sixth juror.

Soon after Christine's Eviction, Julie announced a new twist to the game, the Big Brother Rewind, a large button in the middle of the former have-not room. The HouseGuests argued about the pros and cons of pushing the button. Frankie won the following HOH competition called Seed Saw. In spite of only having guesses as to the consequences of pushing the rewind button, all the Houseguests pushed it at the same time which started a countdown clock. In a surprise, Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd returned to the Big Brother house and Jeff proposed to Jordan with both their families present.  After the festivities, Frankie nominated Cody and Victoria for eviction. The HouseGuests then competed in the BB Freakshow face morph POV competition, which Frankie won. He chose to keep the nominations the same.

On Day 84, due to the pressing of the golden button, the eviction was cancelled and the Big Brother game rewound one week, right before the last HOH competition. All of the HouseGuests except Derrick (who was the outgoing HOH at the time) competed in the Seed Saw competition for a second time. Caleb wins HOH. After a 'luxury competition" where momentarily returning juror Hayden and HouseGuest Victoria each win $5000, Caleb nominates Frankie and Victoria. In a redo of the BB Freakshow competition, Cody won the Power of Veto. He chose to keep the nominations the same. On Day 88, Frankie was evicted by a 2-0 vote and became the seventh member of the jury.

Shortly after Frankie's eviction, Derrick won the Foggy Memory "Before or After" HOH competition, securing himself a spot in the final three. He nominated Caleb and Victoria for eviction. Cody ending up winning the Power of Veto. On Day 90, Cody cast the sole vote to evict against Caleb, making Caleb the eighth member of the jury.

Later that day, the final three competed in the first part of the final HOH competition. Cody hung on the longest and won. On Day 92 Derrick and Victoria competed in the second part of the final HOH with Derrick winning; meaning that Cody and Derrick face one another in part three of the final HOH.

Production and Development

Big Brother 16 was officially announced on September 12, 2013, a week before the finale of the previous season. In March 2014, casting began with applicants being to able to apply online or attend open casting calls throughout the country.

On May 19, 2014, CBS released a teaser commercial for Season 16 including small clips from past seasons, including diary room moments saying Big Brother famous phrases such as "Expect the Unexpected".

On June 6, 2014, CBS announced that both Big Brother 16 and Let's Make a Deal, the last two CBS shows that

were not in high-definition, would make the switch for their upcoming seasons (the latter started taping June 4 in high-definition). It is a move CBS has been trying to do for three years but was unable to do so until this year.

Press interviews were scheduled for June 17 and Cast Announcements were scheduled for June 19

On June 18, 2014, Julie Chen announced some twists on The Talk. One of which was that there would be two HoHs and four Nominees each week. Another twist was that the Heads of Household weren't safe due to another twist called "Battle of the Block" where the two HoHs would battle and the loser would be dethroned and would be eligible to be nominated post-Power of Veto. Also, website The Hollywood Reporter interviewed house designer Scott Storey who revealed that the theme was "Urban Treehouse" saying: "This year’s theme is urban treehouse. A note from the network was that they wanted it to feel urban, young and playful and urban treehouse seemed like a perfect place to start". The HouseGuests moved into the house on June 21, 2014.

Twists

Battle of the Block

On June 18, 2014, Julie Chen announced a few twists on The Talk. In comparison to previous seasons of Big Brother which featured a single Head of Household, this season would involve two Heads of Household. Each HoH would have their own suite.  Each Head of Household would nominate two other housemates, which also increases the total nominees to four, two more nominees than the majority of other seasons. However, both Heads of Household would not be safe. A new competition entitled "Battle of the Block" features both pairs of nominees competing to win safety. The winning pair would be removed from the block, with the Head of Household who nominated them dethroned. The dethroned Head of Household would later be eligible to be nominated after the Power of Veto has been used.

Team America

During the first premiere show, host Julie Chen further explained a twist called "Team America", which she had mentioned beforehand on The Talk. This twist involves the public voting and choosing three houseguests who would form an alliance in the house (unbeknownst to the other houseguests) and would work together to change the game and perform secret missions throughout the season. [13] Fans had previously been asked to vote for which houseguest they would want to form an alliance with, based off of short biographies given by the houseguests themselves. Fans were able to vote a maximum of 20 times on the official Big Brother 16 website. The houseguests with the most amount of votes would become the first member of "Team America." The winner of this poll would be revealed in the second premiere show. [14] On the second premiere show, Julie announced that Joey was voted by America as the first member of Team America, it was announced that the second member would be revealed on the next live show. On that live show, Joey was evicted, and Donny was revealed as the new member of Team America.

Team America was adapted from Big Brother 8 and Big Brother 10's "America's Player". During the first three weeks America will vote for who they want to form an alliance with. As per the "America's Player" twist, these three houseguests that form Team America will be given missions from the American public.

Format

The format has changed slightly from previous seasons. The contestants, who are referred to as "HouseGuests", are sequestered in the Big Brother House with no contact to or from the outside world. Each week, the HouseGuests take part in several compulsory challenges that determine who will win food, luxuries, and power in the House. The winner of the weekly Head of Household competition, who was formally guaranteed safety, can now be overthrown thanks to a new competition called the "Battle of the Block". The two winners of the Head of Household competition each week will pick two nominees, who then go head-to-head in this competition. The winning team is guaranteed a week of safety and overthrows the Head of Household who nominated them. The nominees chosen by the other Head of Household then become the nominations for the week. After a HouseGuest becomes Head of Household, he or she is ineligible to take part in the next Head of Household competition. HouseGuests usually also take part in weekly Have vs. Have-Not competitions in which they are divided into either the "Haves" or the "Have-Nots" depending on their performance in the competition. HouseGuests that become "Have-Nots" for the week have to eat "Big Brother slop" along with a weekly food restriction (chosen by the viewing public), take cold showers, and sleep on cold beds in a freezer-like bedroom. The winner of the Power of Veto competition wins the right to revoke the nomination of one of the nominated HouseGuests. If the Veto winner uses this power, the Head of Household must immediately nominate another HouseGuest for eviction.

On eviction night, all HouseGuests except for the Head of Household and the nominees vote to evict one of the two nominees. This compulsory vote is conducted in the privacy of the Diary Room by the host Julie Chen. In the event of a tie, the Head of Household casts the deciding vote, announcing it in front of the other HouseGuests. Unlike most other versions of Big Brother, the HouseGuests may discuss the nomination and eviction process openly and freely. The nominee with the greatest number of votes will be evicted from the House on the weekly live broadcast, exiting to an adjacent studio to be interviewed by Chen, after which the cycle begins again. HouseGuests may voluntarily leave the House at any time and those who break the rules may be expelled from the house by Big Brother. The final nine HouseGuests evicted during the season will vote for the winner on the season finale. These "Jury Members" will be sequestered in a separate house and will not be allowed to watch the show except for competitions and ceremonies that include all of the remaining HouseGuests. The jury members will not be shown any Diary Room interviews or any footage that may include strategy or details regarding nominations.
